The senses succumb

while a consciousness lingers.

Sinking through the dark,

futile curses toward heavens

sluggishly fly to no one;

a last reach for life.


A Halloween poem for a prompt on another poetry community blog I like to participate in, We Drink Because We’re Poets. My greatest fear is drowning, hence this. Hope you enjoy. Happy Halloween.
