Remember – a villanelle

by graypoet

No matter what you are feeling
If you remember a loved ones eyes
Smile and remember, you are alive.

There are days when we always wonder
Could the days get better than today
No matter what you are feeling.

You sit back and think special thoughts
No one can take those away from you
Smile and remember, you are alive.

There are always stresses in our lives
There are always those less fortunate
No matter what you are feeling.

You were never guaranteed anything
Everyone faces the pressures of life
Smile and remember, you are alive.

Even those that seem to have hit bottom
Are at least given a chance to get up
No matter what you are feeling
Smile and remember, you are alive.

  1. Very inspiring.

  2. Liked this and is good to remember that we can move on… 🙂

  3. This is one of my favorite uplifting pieces of yours. I read it every so often as a reminder to myself to keep smiling through the chaos, keep laughing through the storm, and keep loving because we should.

  4. It is important to remember that no matter what our mood state may be at the time, we all have memories we can draw on for strength, happiness, a moment’s respite from the stress of the modern world. Memories remind us that we are alive and that we have also lived. Great poem, and a great way to start off my day…..thank you

    • And thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to visit. It is that bit of encouragement that lets us know the words were felt. I appreciate your thoughts.

      • You are welcome 🙂 I believe all poets have a very special gift enabling people to not just read words written on a page but, rather, to take the time to really delve into what the author is saying and how their use of imagery allows people to feel what the author felt when they wrote the piece.
