Ocean Song

by Harry

The chorus doesn’t change

repeated waves upon the shore

But there’s variety in every verse

never heard by us before

Each season that we pass through

the melody changes by degrees

some notes no longer needed

they’ve left as gulls upon the breeze

But we hear the lapping waves

arriving each as if in fun

caressing the shoreline of our hearts

remembrance of all that’s made us one

The mystery keeps our love alive

as we wake each day that’s birthed

yesterday buried beneath its tide

hand in hand new songs unearthed.
