One Thousand Lonely Stars

by wordypenguin

I didn’t want to be the one to forget
I thought of everything I’d never regret
A little time with you is all that I get
That’s all we need because it’s all we can have

One thing I never see the same way around
I don’t believe it as I slip on the ground
I’d take you where we lied together on the shore
But we can never be together anymore

You used me once, you fled, seeing it was dark
You raised me up to heights, then you ran off
I have a picture of your beautiful face in my head
And all I hear is the last thing that you said

We will never be alone again
We’re not meant to see another day
I counted on you being a friend
Never thought you’d give it away

I’ve thought long about what I want to say
But I  don’t really know where to go
So I chained myself to my heart
Hoping it won’t unlock another door

The summer memory that just never dies
We worked long and hard, but fell apart in no time
I never thought to look through you and your lies
Cracks in the road that you’d so well disguise

If I’d ever cut up the seams in the wall
No doubt you’d have taken a fall
One thousand lonely stars hiding in the cold
You can take them with you; I can’t think anymore
