Runaway From Heaven

by Noura M.MouSsa

Would you run away from heaven?
We both know I won’t be there,
Take me back to empty earth,
Whole planet for just ourselves,
Would you run away from heaven?

Would you save me when I fall?
When the sky rejects my weakness,
Or will you be the guy in my dreams?
Who wears the angels crown and leaves,
Or would you save me when I fall?

Will you testify against me there?
Or lie in front of lords and angels,
Nor the truth or lie will set you free,
Will you lie to them like you lie to me?
Or will you testify against me there?

  1. Hooked by the questions in this one, which seemed beautifully simple for the first two verses, but that unexpected ferocity in the final verse is wonderfully done … and I am sitting here wondering.
    Very well written.

  2. I have to echo the thoughts of “beeseeker”–
