Love Play

by Apurva

You are my unfinished thoughts,

My half-hearted jots,

My nervous self doubts,

My sleepless bouts.

Don’t you smile

that crooked smile,

& tease me

while my blood boils,

Let me unleash

the fury I’ve got,

Fight you like

the warrior I’m not,

Then we’ll see

who’s won the chance

to rule the other

in this mating dance.

You come too close,

overwhelming my senses,

as I savour your scent,

forgetting differences,

my mind’s confused,

split into two,

one wants a fight,

the other… truce,

then you close in,

there’s no place to hide,

I give in to love,

tossing  my temper…

…aside!
