Undone

by willowmarie

The question wasn’t complicated,

The answer was.

She asked, “what’s undone in your life?”

I wanted to answer something about

Loves unknown or trips untaken.

I wanted to answer something about

Something invisible-

But my first thought was

“Me, I’m undone.”

And then,

When she’d gone around the table

And it was my turn to read what I’d written,

I almost lied.

I’m not sure how it happened

But life’s left me undone

Again and again.

It felt like confession,

But was more about conviction:

One of my no longer secret, secret ones-

Visibly lived.

The joy of grace… complicated.
