I awaited your first steps
I looked forward to the day
I’m sad that I didn’t realize
It was then you walked away.

Each milestone is building
the road your traveling on.
I’ll keep good track and tick them off,
then, one day, your gone.

  1. A very true story in the poem. My last child is 16 years old and I already miss the voices of the children in the house. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

  2. Sadness parenthood has to face..

  3. A lovely moving pgoem which I totally relate too.

However the next generation is gradually arriving now so the tiny voices are back! Wonderful! 🙂
