Friendship (Sonnet)

by tjtherien

Is Friendship more than common history?
What is this connection of feelings fond?
Nostalgia and sentimentality
Altruistic goodwill behind the bond
Is it just an act, just another mask?
Are we bit role actors playing our part?
What is too much of amity to ask?

When we engrave that accord on our heart
Mutual melting and merging of mind
Comrade and colleague, spiritual tether
Somewhere to turn when the world isn’t kind
Seeking shelter from in climate weather
It’s just the way the stars are aligned
Kindred spirits walk their path together
