220 Grit

by maiasong

Over and over again

And again

Back and forth

Predictable as time

Ticking away

A hot July day

Front porch swinging

In rhythm

Cooling

The course abrasive

Lines you perfected

Over the paint

Peeling

Until I rose

All polished up

Glowing in a new day’s sun

Leaving you

Useless

I was inspired after reading the following article. Recovery from any form of abuse is long and hard with all to often much self-blame. I encourage you to take a moment and read too.

  1. I can picture you sitting there getting cooled by the door 🙂

  2. Thank you for sharing the article and the inspiration really hit you well – enjoyed it very much!

  3. Fantastic poem and excellent article, thanks for sharing both!

  4. I thoroughly understood your emotive premise and the hurt that feels so vividly alive. Abuse is [to me] being a hemophiliac.

If you enjoyed the poem. please leave a comment.
