They warm my heart and spirits
And never go out of style
Like the beaming ones that couples show
As they walk together down the aisle
Nearly all are wonderful
But some mean so much more
Such as those from a loving family
When you walk through the front door.
Some reflect favorite memories
From the first on a baby’s face
To the those shared by parents
When they see a child’s good grades
The proud but sometimes sad ones
When the children have all grown
Packed up and moved out
To build lives of their own.
The kind a surgeon wears
After a long and hard fight
That says they’re going to pull through
And everything will be alright.
They are so often present
When I travel down Memory Lane
Think back to favorite scenes
And experience them again.
