Feather Friend

by Shashi Moore

Spring Choice

A feathered friend of mine

Perched, in search of a place

For the time so near

Her young ones from a shell to appear.

Her mate waits watching her in pain

For the love they share to go in vain.

being touched by their despair

 I get my tools for a house to prepare;

While they gaze at my repair

Their wrecked nest from last year.

Mission accomplished!

I leave a surprise for a spun to nest.

The dawn awakens me with tweet from them

Leading me to choice of their own

 My mail box now their home.
