In this moment

by Devina

In this single moment

So many things can happen

Altering life as we know it

In so many different ways

Live this very moment

As best as you can

It’s different, unique

Unlike any other and always

Subject to change

I’ve wondered for so long

Who sat in this very spot

Did they take in the sunlight

That filtering through the dusty window,

Coming to rest on the worn mustard carpet?

I imagine that he had

Taken the time to ponder on

The many faces the faded red plastic flowers have seen

Had let the wash and roar of the voices

Of children break against him like waves

Breathing them in,

Becoming a part of him

Exhaling the now memory, For another moment

To take it’s place

Like I am

Right here

  1. excellent truths in verse!

  2. Love the shape of this poem – something you worked on?
    Or something that just happened?
