Fat Squirrel

by Wendy Strohm

 Squirrel Picture

Hey fat squirrel – can’t believe what I’ve seen

You’re eating things you should not have been

The fat balls within their cage so tight

You tugged and tugged with all of your might

The half coconut has gone as well

And impossibly! – so has half the shell!

The beautiful bell – shaped from seeds

Nestled momentarily in the weeds

Hey fat squirrel – I’m lost for words

You’ve eaten everything meant for the birds!
