Midwinter’s Song

by maiasong

Your melody plays in perfect time

falling upon my heart

cradled in heavens arch

I listen as you pass

sensing your breath as it blows

fogging the frozen window in crystalline lace

where through my sleepy gaze

I sway like the draping branches

of the young willow pausing the ripples

flowing into spring’s promise

where again and back again

I glorify in your warmth

throwing shadows across my walls

through windows open you fall

washing in moonbeams

marking time with the tides

changing as leaves delicately paint

a rainbow upon the ground

where I am buried under your spell

as you cast me softly

into midnight’s song

While you remain

ageless, timeless

again and back again.
