by Wendy Strohm

Well what a month, busy for sure –
Buying the presents, the food and more.
I’ve cleaned the house and made the beds
And decked the tree with balls of red.

The cards were sent in the very last post
Maybe this year I’ve sent the most?
The gifts are wrapped, although I confess
Rather hurried so a bit of a mess!

I’ve weighed and mixed and even baked
The puddings, the pies and Gran’s fruit cake
The turkey’s thawed, the veg is cut
And I’ve found a ribbon for the dear old mutt.

I’ve worked so hard and now all is set
There’s no more worry and no more fret
I can stop watching that too fast clock
And all that’s left is to hang up my sock!

Merry Christmas
