Black Friday

by Kerrie Ann Salsac

Black Friday’ here so blow your cash

finding goodies amongst the trash.

Put down the turkey, head outside

To find the discounts they’ve applied.

Saving pennies before they go and disappear

Christmas is coming but for now Black Friday’s here.

Walk down the street, what do you see?

Campers prepped for a shopping spree,

Shops open earlier each year

scared customers will disappear,

Brick and mortar stores are struggling to compete,

whilst we shop online rather than walk down the street.

Employees stuck, all night working

public holidays, what a sting.

Turning to representation,

long hours such an irritation.

Though each and every one wants an extra few bucks,

they run to Unions, feeling like Employees stuck.

  1. Its sad for all the employees coming up to xmas. Nice poem.

  2. Yea it is, difficult choice when extra hours and money is needed but they don’t have the choice.
I can volunteer to work boxing day and new years day but I have a choice.
    Thanks 🙂

  3. Good information. Lucky me I ran across your site by accident (stumbleupon).
I have book-marked it for later!
