Flit, flit, flit

by Martin Shone

flit, flit, flit
gone so fast

flit
twitch of angled tail feather

flit
gone so fast

tiny
hidden in hawthorn
delicate
a midget roly-poly feathered ping-pong ball

sticky legs with twiggy toes
piercing beak
piercing voice

flit, flit, flit
gone so fast

  1. The small birds in our hedge are gone so fast, as you say.
