Do you hear the whispers?
The words we never say
Lost in the winds of time
They float in and out
Of the caverns of our memories
Waiting for the time
When we will remember
When we look back
And wonder
What was
What is now
What could have been
If only we said
What we wanted to say
Perhaps we would realise
That the ear was waiting
To hear those words
Yearning for the story
To be told
But the diminished heart
Fled that place
Too frightened to wait
In vain
For the words
That never came
