morning’s work – poem

by billgncs

late again, sigh…

In spring things rise or some still do
The compass north points
Straight and true

Away to duty beckons brightening dawn
The poet’s best work
Remains undone

Duty fades, sundial unheeded
In morning’s garden
Tending needed

Oh cooing dove, wings wide spread
Now two can face
The day ahead

  1. beautiful, good rhythm and cadence ~thank you ~Sincerely Deborah

  2. I love that line, ‘away to duty beckons brightening dawn’, and also the image of the cooing dove that offer company – indeed, we are never alone in nature.

  3. I love the rhyme in this. It sort of meanders soothingly.
“…now two can face the day ahead” – this resonates with me very much indeed

    Lovely

  4. Love the rhythm, the breaks and the choice of words here.

  5. I like this a lot and especially love:

    The poets best work
    Remains undone

    and

    Now two can face
    The day ahead
