Like a map
One finger traces
Discovers routes
And unknown treasure

this is sweet irony… loved it!
Thanks Deborah – it’s always hard to try to write a romantic poem without falling into cliche. I am glad you liked it.
I really like this! Haiku or hoku!
The more I look into haiku and read about it from way back to how it has been allowed to change over the years, it seems anything goes! Anyway this is lovely 😊
yes, the form is so powerful. That it changes means it’s alive, but I only label my 5,7,5ers haiku, but I am old school and language belongs to the young to shape and form.
Glad you liked it. I was torn using treasure as it might seem cliche, and the goal is to use ones own words and make it so popular it becomes the new cliche
Yes, cliches can be a problem , but someties a word fits and treaure fits here!
Your poem reminded me of when I was a child. My father was in the Merchant Navy and at sea a great deal of the time beore I was born. He travelled all over the world. But he got a shore job after I was born. On a wekend my sisters and I used to getinto our parents’ bed on a morning. They had a bedspread with lines all over it and our father used to travel these lines with his finger and take us with him on is travels. Cosy times. 😊
thanks — I am glad you shared that. What a great memory to have.
