Asleep in our bed
So soft and warm.
A gentle touch
On my shoulder
Tells me she’s there.
My head slightly lifts
Sleepy eyes barely open.
She kisses my lips
Whispers “I love you”
Then is gone.

Ahhh why the ending! So cruel! Very nice, sweet and subtle poem though! =)
I agree lovely poem and, then is gone.
Dear charmedbylove and Harry: Thank you for your comments and compliments. Perhaps this will help explain it: I work from home and have no commute, so My Beloved often leaves for work before I rise in the morning. That leads to this morning ritual that I love so much I wrote a poem about it. Don’t worry she returns every night! ;-D!
Harry: Is it ok with you if I sometimes say a sentence or two about the genesis or backstory of the poem when posting it? I think in some cases readers might get a richer experience for it.
Russ
That explains the poem
Yes but not to long
put it above the poem then add a ” read more ” line.
Thank you, Harry. Russ
